Triangle Kids
2024
Triangle Kids offers free art activities for children every Tuesday and Thursday in Elswick Triangle Park playground, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, for children from the surrounding streets. The initiative was devised by Foundation Press and is delivered with the support of artist Lindsay Duncanson. Each session is based around a different a core task or creative process, informed by the ideas of the children participating.
Brief Opportunities
2024 – ongoing
At the beginning of each month, Foundation Press share a ‘Brief Opportunity’; a worksheet for you to take and enjoy at your own leisure. Printed copies will be available to pick up in Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art from January 2024 or download a digital copy from Baltic's website using the link below.
Black Path Press
2024 – 2019
Black Path Press is a community printing press in South Bank, Middlesbrough – operating near the historic route known as the black path. The press is based around a MZ770E risograph printer which now lives at Saabat Gallery. Each month between now and September 2024 we will be offering free print sessions; enabling people to learn how to riso, make their own prints and consider the future of this community resource. Please get involved if you are interested - together we can make something proper nice and accessible. But it can’t happen without you!
Doggerbank Wallpapers
2023
This project worked with children from SS Peter & Paul RC Primary School in South Shields to develop 3 collaborative risograph-printed wallpaper designs for the headquarters of Doggerbank Wind Farm. Dogger Bank Wind Farm is an offshore wind farm located between 130km and 190km from the North East coast of England at their nearest points. Collectively they will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm with a headquarters in Port of Tyne. Through working with Year 3 and 4 children we explored the idea of wind power from different angles – combining imaginary and factual representations to different effect.
Imaginary Vessels (For Sally)
2023
Imaginary Vessels (For Sally) was an installation as part of the exhibition SALLY MADGE: NOWHERE BETTER THAN THIS at Newcastle Contemporary Art. The piece riffs on a number of vases made by Sally Madge at Ouseburn Pottery between 2017 and 2020 (several of which are on display within the installation). The shapes and textures of these pieces inform a risograph-printed wallpaper made up of precariously stacked, variously decorated vessels. Sally originally studied ceramics at London’s Central School of Art and returned to the medium frequently over the course of her career as an artist. Influenced by Sally’s interdisciplinary and fearless methods as a maker and educator, Foundation Press have also made a number of ceramic cups – engaging with an unfamiliar medium as an act of play and creative learning.
