CATALOGUE is the exhibition catalogue for EXHIBITION. EXHIBITION is a group show featuring Cara Tolmie, Henry Coombes, Ian Breakwell & Mike Leggett, Josephine Flynn, Keith Farquhar, Matthew Crawley, Susie Green and Tim Etchells, curated by CIRCA Project at Workplace Gallery (Jan 9 – Feb 21 2015).

CATALOGUE includes contributions from all the artists involved in the group show, forming an extension of the physical exhibition and offering insight into artists’ working practices. Contents include a selection of Henry Coombes’ previously unpublished poetry, a business card by Matthew Crawley as well as Susie Green’s iPhone Notes.

CATALOGUE is published by CIRCA Projects, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Drawn Lands, Graphic Lands was an exhibition by Tom Madge at 36 Lime Street. The exhibition presented a new series of collages taking a graphic approach to landscape, exploring combinations, arrangements, edges and transitions. The exhibition was supported by a specially created publication. The exhibition featured as part of the International Print Biennale and ran from 19-27 July 2014.

Print in Practice

Print in Practice was an exhibition and reading room developed in collaboration with NewBridge Books. The exhibition featured specially created new printed artworks by Adam Phillips and Deborah Bower and sculptural display cases created by Tony Wiles and Joe Woodhouse. On Sunday 20 July Anette Knol and Amelia Bande of Publishing Puppies (Berlin) presented a talk with artist Deborah Bower.

Foundation Press and NewBridge Books present a collaborative programme, for the International Print Biennale, that responds to the discourse around print as part of wider artistic practice. Print In Practice presents new projects being created with Foundation Press by artists Kate Liston, Alexandra Hughes, Deborah Bower, Chris Wilson, Nikki Brewster, alongside a curated selection of printed matter from independent printing presses including Hato Press and Café Royal Books.

The event was presented by CIRCA Projects at Table 43 The Union Rooms Wetherspoon, Newcastle upon Tyne July 27th 2014. It was printed by Foundation Press in an edition of 43.

David Steans is an artist and writer based in Leeds. Recent exhibitions include The Panj Piare ASSEMBLE, Grand Union, Birmingham (2014); Day Release, The Northern Charter, Newcastle (2014) and CONTEMPORARY FIGURATION, Udstillingsstedet Q, Copenhagen (2013). Most recently his writing was featured in Cadavere Quotidiano, an ‘anthology of writers and artists preoccupied with the lumbering nature of the object and its relation to the written word’ edited by Paul Becker, Alex Cecchetti and Francesco Pedraglio.

Chris Wilson has progressed from the Foundation at Sunderland, through a degree to a career as an illustrator. As part of a recent residency, Wilson has developed a new publication, Nabwood. Nabwood is a comic-book that evidences a dreamlike narrative alongside a use of symmetry and geometrical processes. The disarming lightness of touch within his works often usher in undercurrents or unexpected themes.
