UNIVERSITY OF SUNDERLAND
Foundation Press began with a conventional brief for students on the Art and Design Foundation course at University of Sunderland; 'make a publication which encompasses all students in your Foundation year'.
The first catalogue in 2012 was printed with Hato Press, London – led by a student committee creating the design as well as editing and compiling the content.
The following year we were able to get a risograph printer at Sunderland, meaning students could produce the catalogue in-house and take a hands-on and experimental approach.
Each year since the students have tried to create a distinctive book working with the limitations/possibilities of risograph printing.
The ambition is to try and reflect something of their experiences studying Art and Design in printed form.
Student catalogues can be swapped in our swap shop, following the link at the top of the page.
