Alexandra Hughes: Apertures / (2014)

Alexandra Hughes’ practice operates at the borders of photographic processes, materials and technologies and examines thresholds of time and place. This book was an extension of the photographic series Collage on Film (2013), which features works created through handmade masks being placed inside the camera between the lens and film – enabling an assemblage of exposures to be captured on a single frame of film. The book displays a set of shapes and forms captured from disparate locations. The book reflects Hughes’ methods, drawing a correlation between architectural frames and the interior of the camera body.
